The Challenge
International travelers often struggle with instant price comparison in foreign countries. Typing prices manually into currency conversion apps is slow and cumbersome in busy markets or stores.
The Solution
We engineered Convert, a high-performance mobile app. Using the device’s camera stream, an on-device OCR model detects price tags in real-time, and a lightweight AI model classifies currency symbols, instantly overlaying the converted prices onto the camera view in the user’s preferred currency.
Results
- Speed: Real-time translation and currency conversion under 100ms.
- Accuracy: Over 98% accuracy in detection across varied fonts, labels, and lighting conditions.
- Convenience: Replaced manual entry entirely, creating a seamless “point-and-see” experience.
